It’s been another busy few months here at Project Customs HQ, with more suitably impressive vehicles passing through the doors of our workshop as well as plenty of exciting company news taking place.
Below is a lowdown of what’s been going on, and some of the more memorable vehicles that have passed through our doors…
McLaren-Specific Celette Jig Install
Some huge news for us was the recent installation of a McLaren-specific Celette jig.
Project Customs has always been McLaren approved for paint, but the introduction of this impressive piece of kit helps us to tick another box towards FULL McLaren certification, including when it comes to structural repair work.
It’s probably unsurprising to hear that countless stringent measures are in place to ensure we continue to provide nothing but the very best service and to make sure all McLarens that are with us receive only the highest standard of repair.
2022 promises to be the start of a new era for Project Customs, with plenty of other additions taking place to ensure we remain at the leading edge of our industry.
Richter Automotive Open Day
Back in October, we headed down to Milton Keynes to attend the open day of our friends, Richter Automotive. Many of you will know that this is the firm that represents the UK division of ABT Sportsline – a company that we are proud to be a dealer of here at Project Customs.
The day showcased Richter’s all-new premises, featuring some truly unique vehicles and special guests. Our Audi R8 was also lucky enough to secure a prime slot for the day inside the warehouse!
BMW Upgrades Now Available
We’re pleased to announce that we’re now offering a range of upgrade and paint/repair services for BMW models.
You may already be familiar with our recently-acquired BMW M5 in-house development car, which will be showcasing some of the work we carry out over the next few months.
We now supply a range of Carbon Factory carbon fibre upgraded body components, so please ask us for more details if you are interested.
Porsche 911 Carrera S (992) – Panel Paint and Stone Chip Foil
This beautiful Gentian Blue Porsche 911 came to us for nearside quarter panel paint, as well as fresh stone chip foil to top it all off.
This was one of the first 992-generation 911s we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing in the flesh, and it’s safe to say that Porsche has once again produced a remarkable looking sports car.
Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Race Car – Full Body Paint
Who said that owning a race car meant you needed to compromise on bodywork quality? Certainly not the owner of this striking Aston Martin Vantage GT4 racer, who wanted nothing but the best finish for his recently-prepared weapon.
Although it’s destined to hit the track again soon, the owner still understandably wanted the best finish on their beautiful track toy, which is why they came to us.
Rover SD1 – Bare-Metal Respray
It’s not just modern hypercars that pass through our doors here at Project Customs. Take this 37-year-old Rover SD1 as a prime example of this.
The car arrived with us for a full bare-metal respray to give it a new lease of life. Before paint, we added new panels wherever possible, as well as repairing and welding where required, for optimum results.
Then, we etch primed and high-build primed, before the car was blocked-down and Epoxy primed.
Onto paint, and it was decided to stay sympathetic to the Rover’s history by refinishing in the original solid black colour over a clear base (instead of opting for 2K solid colour paint). The owner is now rebuilding the car himself, before returning for a final polish with us soon.
McLaren 675LT – Carbon Fibre Front Wings
Is there anything better in life than a Papaya Spark long-tail McLaren? How about one with some added carbon fibre goodies?
That’s exactly what this stunning example came to us for. It received upgraded carbon fibre front wings , that also include new arch liners that allow active use of the wing vents. Seriously cool!
